Biography

Monica is a Spanish artist living and working in Bristol, UK. She was born in Switzerland. Having completed her Medical studies in Valencia, Spain, she moved to the UK to complete her postgraduate training, eventually becoming a GP for the NHS. A position which she passionately held for over 20 years.
Monica was taught to paint from an early age by her artist mother, who was also a teacher. A Vice-chair of the North Bristol Arts Group, Monica’s debut exhibition was at the 2021 Art Trail. It was a near sellout collection and since then her artwork has been exhibited in juried, solo and group shows including the Bath Society of Artists 118th Annual Open Exhibition. Recently, Monica has been awarded 'The Best in Show' prize at the Friends of the RWA 2023 Open Exhibition for her painting "Lemon still life in situ III".

Artist Statement

"My artwork has always been figurative and about life. Aiming to convey the emotions that I experience through observation of the natural world in all its nuances and trying to interpret the essence of life itself in it’s visual manifestations."
